History and Mandate

• Profile Antigonish founded, December, 1999
• AAP Originated as a project of Profile Antigonish
• Dr. MacDonald addresses Chamber of Commerce at branding luncheon, May, 2002. Business leaders express interest in local partnership
• Committee formed to research partnership concept
• Initial framework paper presented to Profile Antigonish; approved for further action, June, 2002
• Dr. MacDonald agrees to become project consultant
• Summit Organizing Committee established
• Profile Antigonish sub-committee submits proposal to ACOA for financial support for Community Economic Summit
• ACOA approves $10,000 grant, April 2003
• Summit Organizing Committee raises $30,000 from Antigonish area businesses, Chamber, Town and County to create $40,00 total budget for Summit
• Antigonish Economic Summit, May 5-6, 2003
• Summit delegates present resolutions overwhelmingly calling for the establishment of a private-public partnership
• AAP Launch Plan Committee formed, June, 2003
• Launch Plan completed, August, 2003
• Launch Plan unanimously endorsed at community meeting, September 26, 2003; AAP Founders Team established
• AAP Founders Team applies to NS Government for and receives $50,000 in start-up financial support, November 6, 2003
• AAP launch January 5 , 2004
